It takes years of diligent efforts and a significant financial investment to develop a new drug and to obtain government approval for its commercialization. There are many critical steps in drug development, but above all, I believe the most important step is having a new idea for an innovative drug that addresses unmet medical needs. The first step in the creation of an innovative drug is the scientific inspiration and this does not require a large organization or much financial investment.
The concept of an innovative drug cannot be created by relying on public information but depends on proprietary, original scientific data and know-how. M's Science has carried out its own research and development in the therapeutic areas of Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders and Oncology and accumulated original data and know-how. In order to succeed as a biopharmaceutical company, we need to complete the clinical development of our two main products, but we are also looking forward to expand our pipeline in the future by utilizing our proprietary data and know-how. With this strategy it is our ambition to contribute to human health. |

M's Science is striving to become one of the leading Japanese biopharmaceutical companies. We currently develop two product candidates in the therapeutic areas of Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders and Oncology. Both candidates have unique mechanisms of action and the potential to become blockbuster drugs. Our most advanced development products are SA4503, a sigma receptor agonist, for post-stroke recovery
and major depression,
and HF10, an attenuated new strain of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) for the treatment of head and neck cancer. We are entering Phase II clinical trials with SA4503 and a Phase I clinical trial for HF10 in the USA and Europe. There are no or only limited therapies available in both indications. M's Science is determined to continue its very best efforts to successfully develop new drugs with novel mechanisms of action to address these important unmet medical needs.
I have over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including as president of Quintiles Japan, a subsidiary of the largest Contract Research Organization (CRO). I am committed to do my best to succeed with the clinical development of our products and to contribute to the improvement of human health. |
